Faena Hotel & Faena House are two of the 6 buildings in the Faena District. 
 
(Along with the Faena Forum Arts Center, Retail Bazaar, Faena Casa Hotel and a car park.). The mastermind behind it is Alan Faena in partnership with a Russian billionaire Len Blavatnik.
The Hotel building is a completely revamped and redesigned historic Saxony hotel. 
 
As soon as you walk in you are surrounded by a shroud of mystery and a sense of excitement creeps up. From the gold covered real mammoth skeleton, the horse statue at Pao, the grand Living Room that fees like a speakeasy, the “secret” Saxony bar, to the yearly shows, Sensatia and Samsara Cabaret this place just keeps surprising your imagination.
The Faena House Residences next door is a 47 unit ultra luxury tower. As I toured the place with a client who loved the architecture and design of the building, and subsequently a unit in the building. (but regretfully didn’t purchase) His comment was that "this building is for billionaires and we are just millionaires", and it definitely has enough of them. Kanye West and Kim Kardashian almost acquired unit 5A this past December during Art Basel, but decided against it in the end. (And lost their large deposit). Leonard Blavatnik himself owned a unit there and the most expensive penthouse ever sold ($55 million) is also at the top of this building.
 
Every year at the start of the season in December, there is a week long Art Basel and the Faena District specifically comes alive. From humongous tents with projections on the ceiling to hundreds of drones equipped with LEDs flying in birdlike formations against the dark of Miami Beach sky while bumping shoulders with the some of the world’s most renowned artists, performers, designers, eccentric millionaires, politicians and many other interesting people from all walks of life. No wonder Kanye wanted a pad right in the middle of it allю
